Dickerson Mine Endurance Race Recap

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the format of the Dickerson Mine Endurance event?

This is a 3-hour mountain bike endurance race where you'll complete as many laps as possible on a challenging 6-7 mile course. The mass start kicks off at 9:00 AM sharp - show up early to get settled and warmed up before the gun goes off.

What kind of trail terrain should I expect at Dickerson Mine?

DM Trails are legendary for a reason - you'll experience a mix of flowy singletrack and rocky, technical terrain that demands both speed and precision. Be prepared for sustained climbing, technical descents, and sections that will test your bike handling skills and mental toughness.

Is this event suitable for beginner mountain bikers?

While the course features challenging technical terrain, endurance events are about your own pace and goals - whether you're pushing for a podium or testing your personal limits. If you're comfortable on technical singletrack and have endurance base fitness, you can absolutely participate. Check the event website for any recommended skill levels or categories.

How many laps will I complete in three hours?

That depends on your fitness level, riding speed, and how the technical sections play out on race day. With a 6-7 mile course, most riders will complete multiple laps, but focus on your own race strategy and energy management rather than comparing lap counts.

What gear and bike setup should I bring?

A full-suspension or hardtail mountain bike suited for rocky, technical terrain is ideal. Wear protective gear including a helmet, and bring hydration and nutrition to fuel three hours of sustained riding - you won't want to bonk out there. Consider bringing extra water or energy gels to stash at the start line if allowed.

Where can I find parking and spectator information?

Check the event website for detailed logistics including parking locations, spectator areas, and any access restrictions at Dickerson Mine Preserve. Arrive early on race morning to secure parking and get your pre-ride routine dialed in before the 9:00 AM start.
