Frequently Asked Questions

What is the technical difficulty of the Rumble at the Ranch course?

The course features a mix of flowy singletrack and punchy climbs designed to challenge your fitness while keeping the stoke high. Riders can expect moderate technical sections, making it a great experience for intermediate riders while still offering enough speed to keep experts on their toes.

How does the relay format work for this 6-hour event?

Teams can consist of solo riders, duos, or larger squads, all aiming to complete as many laps as possible before the 6-hour clock runs out. Only one rider per team is allowed on the trail at a time, making the transition zone the heart of the action.

What kind of mountain bike gear is recommended for these trails?

We recommend a well-maintained cross-country or trail bike with reliable tires capable of handling loose-over-hardpack conditions. Always carry a basic trailside repair kit—including a spare tube, multi-tool, and chain link—so you can quickly get back to shredding if mechanical issues arise.

Is there a specific elevation profile I should prepare for?

The course features rolling terrain typical of the Highlands Ranch area, with several short, sharp climbs that will test your climbing legs over the 6-hour duration. Check the event website for the latest course map and elevation profile to dial in your pacing strategy.

Where should spectators set up to catch the best views?

The start-finish and transition area is the prime spot for spectators to cheer on riders and soak up the high-energy atmosphere. For those wanting to see more of the action, there are several accessible trailside viewpoints—just be sure to stay clear of the race line and respect the trail corridor.

What happens if trail conditions change due to weather?

We monitor the trail conditions closely to ensure the safety of our riders and the integrity of the Highlands Ranch trails. Any updates regarding course adjustments due to inclement weather will be posted on the official event website leading up to the race.
