Frequently Asked Questions

What is the technical difficulty level of the Sprocket Fuel MTB Race course?

The course is designed to test your flow and handling skills, featuring a mix of tight singletrack, root sections, and punchy climbs. Expect a moderate technical rating that rewards riders who can maintain momentum through natural trail features.

What kind of tire setup do you recommend for these trails?

The terrain in New Hill can be fast and hard-packed, but it often includes loose-over-hard sections. We recommend a fast-rolling tire with aggressive side knobs to ensure you stay glued to the trail through the corners.

Is the elevation profile aggressive for this event?

While the course isn't a high-alpine slog, it features relentless short, punchy climbs that will definitely drain your legs over the duration of the race. Be prepared to shift quickly and keep your heart rate in check on the constant rollers.

What should I know about trail conditions on race day?

We monitor the trails closely, but nature is unpredictable. In the event of heavy rain or unsafe trail conditions, check the event website for the latest updates on potential course modifications or schedule changes.

Are there designated spots for spectators to watch the action?

Absolutely! The best spots to cheer on riders are near the main trailhead and the high-speed sections leading into the finish line. Please remember to keep all trails clear and stay off the marked race course at all times.

Do I need a specific type of mountain bike to compete?

The Sprocket Fuel MTB Race is open to most mountain bikes in good working order. Whether you prefer a nimble hardtail or a plush full-suspension rig, ensure your bike is trail-ready with functional brakes and properly inflated tires before you hit the start line.
