Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of bike do I need for the Fon Solo gravel routes?

A gravel bike with at least 35mm-40mm tires is recommended to handle the mixed-surface terrain comfortably. If you are riding a mountain bike, it will be perfectly capable on these trails, though it may feel a bit slower on the gravel sections.

Are the event routes suitable for all skill levels?

We welcome riders of all abilities to join the fun! While some sections offer a spirited challenge for seasoned gravel grinders, the community-focused nature of the event means you can ride at your own pace and enjoy the scenic Maine landscape.

Will there be aid stations provided on the gravel rides?

Yes, we will have strategically placed aid stations stocked with hydration and snacks to keep you fueled throughout your ride. Be sure to carry your own repair kit and extra nutrition just in case, and check the event website for the latest details on station locations.

Is camping available on-site for the weekend?

Camping under the stars is a huge part of the Cider Cross / Fon Solo experience! It is the best way to soak in the post-ride community atmosphere, so pack your gear and get ready to swap stories by the fire.

Can spectators attend the racing and festivities?

Absolutely - we love having spectators cheer on the athletes! Whether you are there for the short-track MTB action or the last-person-standing events, there is plenty of space to enjoy the fall mayhem and local cider.

What should I bring for race-day preparation?

Come prepared for variable fall weather by bringing layers, a well-maintained bike, and your enthusiasm for a great weekend. We recommend checking the event website for the latest details on specific gear requirements and the final schedule for Saturday and Sunday.
