A perfect blend of pavement, dirt road, gravel road and Lost Sierra adventure!
About the Course
The Lost & Found course features a perfect blend of pavement, dirt road, gravel road and epically beautiful views. Legendary for it's big mountains, vast vast alipine valleys and spectacular fields of wildflowers, racers must choose their bike wisely as you're not in Kansas, this is the high Sierra.
The weekend starts with a Friday shakout ride around the beautiful Lake Davis, with the main event on Saturday of long, medium and shorter race routes offering big challenges for riders of various levels, from the head down racer to the big mile crushers to the physically inspired. Then enjoy a well deserved recovery and swap race stories at the after festival with tasty food, libations, and live music. Then close it out with a solid night of camping under the Sierra stars. This is a solid weekend to remember.
About the Ride
High Sierra beauty awaits, offering a mix of challenging and rewarding terrain, stunning views and epic aid stations. All three distances serve up a rugged and beautiful off-road adventure—Lost Sierra style—so plan your gear and training accordingly. The 2026 courses have a bit of everything, from smooth, fast gravel to chunky Lost Sierra dirt roads and even flowy singletrack for the first time. They’ll also all utilize parts of the Beckwourth-Gennessee Road to add in beautiful riding around Lake Davis, a road that will be familiar to those who’ve participated in the Friday Lake Davis Shakeout Ride in recent years.
About the Festival
The Lost and Found Gravel Festival is a three-day event in Portola, California, offering gravel bike rides and races of varying distances through the High Sierra landscape, including new courses for 2026. Beyond the rides, the festival features a weekend of activities such as a welcome party, post-ride celebration with food and music, a kids' zone, and a pancake breakfast, supporting the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship.
