Boulder Roubaix Road Race

Event Overview

• Location: Boulder Reservoir, 5275 Reservoir Rd, Boulder, CO 80301.
• Registration: Online pre-registration is available via BikeReg, closing April 20, 2026. Race day registration opens at 7:00 AM (cash only, +$10 fee) and closes 45 minutes before each field's start.
• Participation: Open to various categories, from Pro/Elite to beginners (Cat 5) and juniors as young as 9.

Course Description

• Mixed Terrain: The loop consists of approximately 61% unpaved/dirt roads and 39% paved roads.
• Key Features: Winding curves, rolling hills, and scenic views characterize the route. New sections include a challenging stretch over the Boulder Reservoir dams and along the Boulder Feeder Canal leading to the final sprint.
• Race Distances: Pro Men complete 3 laps (approx. 90 miles), while Pro Women complete 2 laps (approx. 60 miles).

Event Highlights & Participant Details

• State Championships: The race serves as the official Colorado State Road Race Championship. Only Colorado residents with an annual USAC license are eligible for the championship title.
• Beginner Friendly: "Newbie" Cat 5 races are available for first-time racers, with waves for Senior Men, Masters Men, and Women.
• Atmosphere: Known for its "spring classic" vibe, the race often faces unpredictable Rocky Mountain weather, ranging from smooth, fast roads to slippery, rutted mud.
• Neutral Support: Mechanical support is unlikely and based on volunteer availability; participants are strongly advised to bring their own pump, spare tubes, and perform a "bolt check" before starting.
• Amenities: The main building at the reservoir provides restrooms and showers. Entry to the reservoir is free before 9:00 AM, with a small fee thereafter.
