Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of bike do I need for the Seeds & Stones Roubaix?
This is a true gravel adventure, so we recommend a gravel bike with tires at least 32mm wide for comfort on the farm roads. Mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes are also perfectly capable and welcome on the course.
Are the routes suitable for beginner gravel riders?
Absolutely! With options ranging from 25 to 75 miles, we have a distance for every skill level. The course is designed to be approachable and fun, focusing on the beautiful scenery of the Illinois farm country.
What support is available on the course?
We want you to focus on the ride, so we provide Energy Zones stocked with fuel at key intervals. The course is also well-marked with marshalled intersections and police support to keep you safe and on track.
How does the morning clothing transport work?
We know the early morning chill can be tricky, so we provide a MEGA laundry basket at the start line. Drop your extra layers or empty hydration packs there, and we will transport them to the finish line for you to collect after your ride.
What happens at the finish line?
The finish is all about our amazing community! You will receive a commemorative finisher item, and we celebrate our collective effort by donating 1 lb of food per entry to the Hinkley Area Food Pantry.
Is there a time limit to complete the course?
Yes, the course closes at 3:30 pm to ensure everyone is accounted for and safety services can stand down. Please choose a distance that allows you to comfortably finish by this time so you can enjoy the post-ride festivities.
