About This Event
The Dirty Donut is an event where participants race bicycles on dirt roads in the Allegan County, Michigan area. The race has “donut stops” positioned along each route where participants can choose to stop and eat donuts. Five minutes is deducted from a rider’s finish time for each donut eaten. The great thing about this race is that there are several different ways for competitors at all levels of cycling fitness to become winners.
Additional Information
Event Overview
The Dirty Donut is not your average gravel race. As one of the Midwest's fastest-growing dirt road events, it combines the intensity of competitive gravel racing with a unique twist: Donut Stops. Located in the rolling terrain of Allegan County, this race encourages participants to bring their best speed and their best appetite.
Whether you are aiming for a sub-3-hour 62-miler or just looking to enjoy a scenic, sugar-fueled ride, there is a place for you. In the Donut Division, riders can stop at checkpoints to eat donuts, with five minutes deducted from their total finish time for each donut consumed.
The Divisions
- Donut Division: Strategic racing! Eat donuts, deduct time, and win by being both fast and full.
- Sprint Division: Traditional gravel racing. First across the line wins.
- Specialty Categories: Fat Tire (3.7"+), Single Speed, and Tandem categories are available.
Course Descriptions & Distances
Courses consist primarily of gravel roads, with a few paved sections.
- 62 Mile (The Grand Tour): The premier distance, covering approximately 2,300 ft of climbing through rural Allegan County with 3+ donut stops.
- 42 Mile (The Classic): A challenging intermediate distance with roughly 1,400 ft of climbing.
- 26 Mile (The Bridge): A new distance designed to bridge the gap between intermediate and short distances, offering 540 ft of climbing.
- 16 Mile (The Experience): A short, fast course featuring one donut stop and approximately 400 ft of climbing.
- 4 Mile Family Fun Ride: A non-competitive, free, short-distance loop.
- Longjohn 100 Mile (Live Tracked): A separate, pre-race, self-supported 100+ mile challenge through the Allegan State Forest (rutted, sandy, and difficult).
