About This Event
The Tour of St. Louis Bicycle Races are the first big tests of winter fitness in the Midwest. Put your winter preparation to work with three events over two days. Race #1, The Wildwood Centaur Time Trial. This Saturday morning prologue time trial features a flowing and fast 11 mile course that takes on some of the best roads in west St. Louis County. Race #2, The Carondelicious Criterium. Saturday afternoon, head to the Carondelicious Criterium in South St. Louis City's Carondelet Park for Race #2. This 'almost a circuit' race course features an uphill finish and several technical turns. Race #3, The Mike Murray Classic Criterium is set in St. Louis' famous Forest Park and features a course that swings by the St. Louis History Museum and Municipal Opera. We look forward to hosting the 2nd race on the Midwest Collegiate Calendar.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Tour of St. Louis Omnium different from a single-day race?

The omnium format tests your versatility across three distinct disciplines over two days - a time trial, a criterium with technical turns, and another criterium in an iconic urban park. Your aggregate points across all three events determine the overall category winners, so consistency and adaptability are rewarded as much as peak power.

Is this event suitable for winter fitness testing?

Absolutely - the Tour of St. Louis Omnium is specifically designed as the first major test of winter fitness in the Midwest. This is the ideal event to measure your preparation and identify where to focus your training before spring racing season.

What should I know about the Wildwood Centaur Time Trial course?

The Saturday morning prologue features a flowing, fast 11-mile course through some of the best roads in west St. Louis County. It's a smooth, high-speed effort rather than a short explosive blast, so prepare for sustained power output on quality pavement.

What terrain should I expect in the Carondelicious Criterium?

The Saturday afternoon criterium in Carondelet Park features an uphill finish combined with several technical turns. This "almost a circuit" layout rewards riders who can handle both climbing demands and precise cornering - expect a dynamic race that mixes power and bike handling skills.

Where is the Mike Murray Classic Criterium located?

The final race takes place in St. Louis' renowned Forest Park and features a scenic course that swings by the St. Louis History Museum and Municipal Opera. This is also the 2nd race on the Midwest Collegiate Calendar, making it a key event for student-athletes.

How are overall omnium winners determined?

Category winners are crowned based on your aggregate points across all three events - the time trial, the Carondelicious Criterium, and the Mike Murray Classic. Consistency across disciplines matters, so you'll need to bring your best effort to each race to compete for the overall title.

Who organizes the Tour of St. Louis Omnium?

The event is organized by Big Shark Bicycle Company, a local bike shop and cycling advocate that has built this omnium into a premier Midwest racing series. Check the event website for the latest details on registration, field size, race categories, and day-of logistics.
