Inspired by the "Backyard Ultra" format in trail running, this gravel event challenges riders to keep pedaling until only one person remains standing.
Whether you're looking for a serious endurance test or a unique early-season challenge, the Odyssey is your chance to push your limits on the quiet, scenic gravel roads near Lincoln, Nebraska.

- Format: Backyard Gravel Ultra (Last Rider Standing)
- Lap Distance: ~12-mile gravel loop (approximately)

Course Description
The race is based at the Branched Oak Observatory, north of Lincoln.
- The Loop: Riders will complete a new, challenging ~12-mile gravel circuit every hour, on the hour.
- Terrain: The course consists of early Nebraska spring gravel, featuring rolling hills and open, scenic country roads.
- The Challenge: Every hour, you must return to the Observatory to start the next loop.
- Duration: The event continues as long as two or more riders remain, making this a true test of strategy, mental fortitude, and, of course, stamina.
Race Rules & "Orbits"
- The Clock: The start of a new loop happens exactly one hour after the previous one began. If you do not finish the loop within that hour, you are out.
- The Winner: The last rider to successfully complete a final, solitary lap is declared the winner.
- Prizes: All participants receive a souvenir; special awards, such as Orbits Completed Patches, are given for significant endurance milestones.
- Rider Capacity: Field limited to 100 participants.
Beyond the Bike: The Star Party
Rider families and the public are invited to the Branched Oak Observatory to support the racers.
- Daytime: Enjoy family-friendly, astronomy-related activities at the observatory.
- Nighttime: When the sun sets, the telescopes will be aimed at the spring sky, offering views of celestial wonders (like Jupiter and Saturn) to all, free of charge.
