Reaper Madness-3: Super D Showdown in the Desert

What is Super D?

Super D (SD) will use similar trails that were used for Enduro (not down the face). The differences for our SDs are a 2-run format on the same trail and you choose your best time. Shuttles to all runs and no such thing as a transfer like Enduro has. We used to do SD before we ventured into Enduro. For us, the SD is way more popular than the Enduro.

SD is mostly DH but can have an uphill section so we will have more racecourse options. All bikes and rider levels can do this unlike some of our DH courses.

What to Expect

  • 2-Run Format - Attack the same trail twice, your best run counts
  • Shuttle Service - No grinding uphill between attempts, pure downhill focus
  • Technical Terrain - Berms, jumps, rock gardens, and chunky Nevada singletrack
  • All Bikes Welcome - Hardtails to full suspension, this isn't DH-only exclusivity
  • Mixed Elevation Play - Mostly downhill with strategic uphill sections for course variety
  • Rider Levels - Beginner to expert courses mean everyone gets their moment

Why Super D Rules

Super D strips away the complexity of traditional Enduro while keeping the speed and tech. No transfers, no cumulative timing across multiple stages - just pure trail-racing intensity. You get to know the line, feel the flow, then attack it again. The format is more accessible than Downhill racing, meaning you're racing against your own potential, not an elite-only course design.

Event Highlights

  • Multiple Course Options - Varied terrain to match every skill level and bike setup
  • Desert Trail Character - Boulder City's unique rock features and natural features define the ride
  • Efficient Format - Shuttle system keeps racing moving and the vibes high
  • Community-Focused Racing - More participants, more cheering, more stoke

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is Super D racing?

Super D (SD) is a 2-run format where you attack the same trail twice and your best time counts - no transfers required. Unlike traditional enduro, shuttle service handles all the climbing, so you focus purely on speed and technical execution. SD courses are mostly downhill but can include uphill sections, making them accessible to all bike types and skill levels.

How does the 2-run format work at Reaper Madness-3?

You'll drop in on the same trail twice during the event. Both runs are timed, and only your fastest time counts toward your final result - so if you case a feature on run one, you have another shot to send it clean on run two. This format rewards consistency and gives riders the chance to push harder knowing they have a backup run.

What skill levels can compete at Reaper Madness-3?

Reaper Madness-3 welcomes riders of all abilities - from beginners to expert shredders. The Super D format and course design accommodate different bike types and experience levels, so whether you're honing your technical skills or pushing for the win, you'll find your place on the trail.

Will shuttles really take me to the top for every run?

Yes - shuttles handle all the climbing so you can focus entirely on the descent. No grinding uphill between runs means you can recover, reset your mindset, and attack the trail fresh on your second attempt without worrying about fitness or transfer sections.

What kind of trails will I be riding?

Reaper Madness-3 uses the incredible trail network around Boulder City, Nevada - courses are mostly downhill with potential uphill sections built in to test technical versatility. Expect desert terrain with plenty of technical features where speed and line choice will separate the field. Check the event website for detailed trail descriptions and elevation profiles closer to race day.

What bike should I bring to Reaper Madness-3?

All bike types and geometries can compete at Reaper Madness-3, though a full-suspension mountain bike with travel appropriate for technical descents is ideal. Since the format is 2 runs on the same trail with shuttle service, you can focus your bike setup on handling the specific terrain and technical features rather than worrying about climbing capability.

How do I prepare for desert trail conditions in Boulder City?

The Boulder City trail network features classic desert riding - be ready for rocky technical sections, potential loose conditions depending on recent weather, and the Nevada sun. Pack extra water, protect yourself from UV exposure, and consider your tire pressure and compound carefully based on current trail conditions. Check the event website for trail condition updates as race day approaches.
