Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of bike and tire setup do you recommend for the Cameron Crusher?

Given the mix of dirt roads, seasonal roads, and sections of double and single track, a gravel bike with at least 40mm tires is highly recommended for comfort and traction. Because of the steep climbing and rowdy descents, ensure your bike is in top mechanical condition and equipped with reliable, puncture-resistant tires.

Is the Cameron Crusher a race or a casual ride?

It is a fun, timed-segment adventure that caters to all skill levels! While there is no mass-start racing, your time will be captured on five specific segments, allowing you to push your limits on the climbs and descents while enjoying the rest of the route at your own pace.

What should I know about the self-supported nature of this ride?

Participants are responsible for their own navigation and mechanical repairs, so please bring a repair kit including a spare tube, multi-tool, and pump. We provide one aid station at the bottom of Hathaway Hill Rd where you can access a pre-dropped bag, but you should carry enough nutrition and hydration to sustain yourself between stops.

Are there steep climbs on the course?

Yes, the Cameron Crusher features 7,200 feet of climbing over 53 miles, which includes some challenging, steep grades. We encourage riders to gear their bikes appropriately for long, sustained efforts and to be prepared for a physically demanding day in the saddle.

What happens at the finish line in Mossy Bank Park?

After conquering the final rollers and the park's scenic trails, you will be welcomed back to the finish line at Mossy Bank Park. It is the perfect place to celebrate your accomplishment, share stories with the community, and soak in the beautiful fall foliage.

How can I find the latest updates on registration and event logistics?

Check the official event website for the most current information regarding registration deadlines, parking instructions, and any specific rider requirements. We recommend staying tuned to our official channels as we approach the ride date for any final course alerts or weather-related updates.
