This gravel cycling event showcases the untapped grandeur of Eastern Oregon with its rolling hills and quality gravel into a space that few have ridden before! Our motto is Let R Ride, and Pendleton, being 3 hours away from PDX, Boise, and Spokane, and 4 hours from Bend, makes this the place for two wheels and the spirit of the Real West!

Real West Gravel is an early-season cycling event in Pendleton, Oregon, serving as the official kickoff for the Oregon Triple Crown Series. This event features a shift in its staging to the iconic Pendleton Round-Up grounds and the Pendleton Convention Center.

Course Descriptions

The event offers two primary route options through the remote, rolling wheat country and high-desert landscapes of Eastern Oregon. Both routes utilize a brand-new North Loop departing from downtown Pendleton.

Long Course (approx. 67.7 miles): A challenging but fast route through big-sky terrain, consisting of approximately 70% to 94% unpaved roads. It features an average elevation gain of 60 feet per mile (roughly 15 meters per km). There is a course cut-off at Mile 35 at 1:45 PM.
Short Course (approx. 47 miles): A more approachable early-season effort that shares the same terrain and unpaved percentages as the long route but with a shorter distance for those building fitness.

Event Details

Date & Time: Sunday, with a mass start at 9:30 AM.
Location: Pendleton Convention Center and Blue Mountain Equine Center, Pendleton, OR.
Registration: Pricing increases as the event date approaches ($145–$160), with a total field limit of 500 participants.
Amenities: Registration includes a food voucher for post-ride catering, a custom race plate, and official merchandise (Real West T-shirt or socks). Fully stocked aid stations and mechanical support are provided on-course.
Lodging & Camping: On-site camping (including RV spots with hookups at the Convention Center) opens Friday at noon. Partner hotels like the Radisson Hotel Pendleton Airport often offer special rates for participants.
