Sasquatch Duro – Oregon Wine Country Gravel
Event Details
- Location: Carlton, Oregon (Start/Finish near Carlton Bakery, 245 W Main St)
- Race Start: 9:45 AM (Mass Start with 2.8-mile neutralized roll-out)
- Field Size: Limited to 300 participants
- Terrain: ~62–67% gravel, ranging from fast, smooth gravel to rugged mountain roads
- Recommended Bike: Gravel bike, CX bike, or hardtail mountain bike (38mm–45mm tires recommended)
Course Descriptions
1. The Long Squatch (67 Miles)
- Elevation Gain: ~4,976 feet
- Description: A challenging, two-loop journey designed for endurance riders. It takes you through the rolling vineyards and deeper into the rugged forests of the Coast Range, offering significant climbing and stunning, panoramic views.
- Highlights: The first major climb hits around mile 6, with another tough section before the 60-mile point.
2. The Little Squatch (40 Miles)
- Elevation Gain: ~2,897 feet
- Description: A perfect early-season gravel grinder. This course features one large loop of the premier Yamhill County gravel roads, offering a, rewarding, and challenging experience without the extreme distance of the Long Course.
- E-Bike Friendly: Class 1 & 3 E-bikes are welcome on the short course.
The Experience & Amenities
- Packet Pickup: Friday 3:00-6:00 PM (City Hall) & Saturday 7:30–9:45 AM
- Support: Three fully stocked aid stations (approx. miles 18, 40, 46) featuring PB&J, cookies, and Hammer Nutrition products
- Post-Ride Celebration: $14 food voucher for local food trucks/restaurants, live music in the park (11 AM–4 PM), and awards ceremony starting at 2 PM
- Swag: Custom Sasquatch Duro tall socks
- Prizes: Custom pint glasses and trophies for podium finishers
Logistics & Planning
- Accommodation: No camping is available in Carlton. Book lodging in nearby McMinnville (10–15 mins away) or check local vacation rentals.
- Parking: Designated parking is available on city streets.
- Preparation: The course has some "fresh" gravel. Bring tools, tubes, and a positive attitude!
