About This Event
An Island of Pine in a Sea of Prairie! The Pine Island-Gravel Odyssey is a gravel bike race consisting of a 45, 70, 110 or 210 mile distance. It takes place in the Black Hills of Spearfish South Dakota. This race is in its 10th year and was formerly known as the Gold Rush.
Additional Information

The 45 mile Pine Cone Frolic will be the only course to allow EBikes.  The E-Bike is a non-competitive class and will be incorporated into the Pine Cone Frolic (same rules, same start time, same course, etc). Read below for all information.

This ride is all about the fun and challenge of just finishing, and is intended to be a non-competitive ride.  Yeah sorry, no overall awards in this one.   In this distance we give you much more time to finish the ride, with a generous 5mph average (due to the amount of climbing) needed to make the first aid station.

The Limber Excursion is intended to be a fun, yet challenging endurance gravel road race/ride that will use open public-access gravel and dirt roads, through the Black Hills National forest and into Wyyyooommming!  Riders should be able to maintain a 8-9mph average speed. The course will consist of mostly gravel, some dirt, possible mud, and a bit of pavement (gasp)! while rolling over open prairie, meandering through beautiful canyons with flowing creeks, and navigating the beautiful Black Hills Ponderosa Pine Forest.

The Ponderosa Escapade is our main event at the Pine Island Gravel Odyssey! Riders taking on this course should be able to maintain a 10mph average speed. The event is intended to be a fun, yet challenging endurance gravel road race/ride that will use open public-access gravel and dirt roads, through the Black Hills National forest and into Wyyyooommming!  The course will consist of mostly gravel, some dirt, possible mud, and a bit of pavement (gasp)! while rolling over open prairie, meandering through beautiful canyons with flowing creeks, and navigating the beautiful Black Hills Ponderosa Pine Forest.
