Wild Horse Gravel Race: Unpaved, Untamed & Unforgiven

Ride with the Herd in the Heart of the Cedar Mountain Wilderness

Prepare for a "wild" encounter at the Wild Horse Gravel Race, a standout event in the Utah Gravel Series. Located just 45 minutes west of Salt Lake City in the rugged Cedar Mountain Wilderness, this race offers a landscape that few have traveled. True to its name, the course takes you through a massive 100,000-acre wilderness area home to one of Utah's largest wild horse herds, where it is common to literally ride amongst hundreds of roaming mustangs.

This isn't your average gravel grind; it's a "wide-open desert adventure" with zero miles of pavement. Riders will traverse historic segments of the Hastings Cutoff—the same route used by the Donner-Reed party in 1846—while soaking in 360-degree vistas of the surrounding desert basins. With its grassroots feel and "groads that smile back," the Wild Horse provides a unique blend of historical significance and raw natural beauty that defines the spirit of Utah gravel.
