Frequently Asked Questions

What surfaces will I encounter on the Monster Cross course?

Monster Cross features mixed surfaces throughout the scenic Pocahontas State Park route, including gravel, dirt, and singletrack sections. This variety makes it the perfect early-season test to build your bike handling skills and discover what your setup can handle.

Is Monster Cross suitable for beginners, or is it only for experienced gravel riders?

What tire width and tread pattern should I use?

Check the event website for specific course conditions closer to race day. Generally, gravel tires in the 40-50mm range work well for mixed-surface events, but conditions at Pocahontas State Park may vary. What should I expect after the race?

Beyond the competition, Monster Cross is all about camaraderie and community. Stick around to celebrate with hundreds of other riders, share your race stories, and connect with fellow gravel enthusiasts who share your love of off-road adventure.
