Mountain Biking Skills Clinic Pleasant Grove Park

Course Description

• Terrain: Participants will experience "old-school" single-track, rolling terrain, and tight, flowy sections.
• Difficulty: The park offers a wide range of difficulty levels, from flat, easy-to-ride areas to more challenging sections with elevation changes and natural obstacles.
• The Heritage Trail: As the oldest and longest in the park (4.1 miles), it serves as a primary feature of the local trail system.

• Comprehensive Skills Training: Sessions cover essential techniques including body position, shifting, braking, and minor obstacle maneuvering.
• Bike Maintenance: Learn practical skills like changing a flat tire, lubrication, and derailleur adjustments.
• Trail Etiquette: Instruction includes vital "soft skills" such as trail user communication and proper trail etiquette.
• Guided Group Rides: Every clinic session concludes with a friendly group ride, allowing participants to practice their new skills in a supportive environment.

• Schedule: Clinics are typically held on Saturdays (often 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM) as multi-session series or one-day classes.
• Equipment: Bring a trail-ready bike, helmet, water bottle, and snack. If you don't have a bike, Fluvanna County Parks and Recreation can provide bikes and helmets (inventory is limited, so indicate this during registration).
